Reka is one of the most productive early fruiting varieties of blueberry. Clusters of dark blue berries are normally ready to pick around Christmas time. For the best results, plant them in a sunny location, in a well-worked, slightly acidic soil. Blueberries are very shallow rooted and loathe having their roots tampered, they prefer a cooler root zone, so layers of mulch help with this. Plants fruit on previous season’s growth, so be careful not to remove the wood that will produce next season’s fruit. It is a good idea to plant at least two plants as cross pollination will improve fruit size and, more importantly, yield. Hedge: 1 metre apart. Height: 1.5 metres Wide: 1.5metres.
