Setsugekka

Setsugekka (Camellia Sasanqua)

Sometimes called the Poached Egg Camellia as its flowers are large and white with bright yellow stamens that look much like a poached egg. This autumn flowering camellia has rich, dark, glossy, green leaves with an open growth habit that makes it ideal for espalier and training as a standard or an informal hedge. A little shade is preferred, protect from intense midday sun. Trim to shape are required. Fertilise in spring after flowering with azalea and camellia food. Sun or shade. Height: 2.5 metres, width 2 metres. Hedge: 70cm apart.
