Grown for its prized crimson threads, the pretty, purple flowers appear in autumn. Saffron is an easy to grow bulb, full sun, good drainage and water through dry periods is about all it requires. Harvest the stigmas (threads) once the flower is fully open, dry and store. Space between plants 20cm.
