Royal Gala are characterised by a blush of pink on the skin, the colour varies from yellow to almost orange with deep orange stripes. Matures in mid summer. The Royal Gala apple was developed as a cross between the Golden Delicious and a Kids Orange Red in the North Island of New Zealand in the 1930's by Mr Kidd. Is not self fertile. Pollinate with Akane, Fuji and Granny Smith.
