Copper or Purple Beech (Fagus sylvatica purpurea)

This quintessentially English tree can either be grown as a multi-branched hedge or as a large specimen tree. The rich, dark purple, almost black leaves appear at the end of spring and cover the plants until well into winter and even when they shed, a few leaves will remain on the tree. Prefer well drained soils. Sun or Shade. Height: 10 metres x 3 metres wide.
