Magnus

 

Blackcurrants are hardy berries, which thrive in areas where summers are hot and winters are cold. Plant in a rich soil, ideally laden with compost or manure before planting. Full sun is best, although they do cope with a little shade. Plants fruit on stems, which are one year old i.e. been through one winter, prune to encourage new growth each season.

Magnus Blackcurrant

Magnus is the main commercial variety in NZ, extremely hardy, produces large fruit on upright plant, ripens mid-season, December to February.
