The large, fat, juicy, purple spears of this sweet asparagus appear in spring. Keep cutting to encourage a longer harvesting season. Plant the crowns in late winter or early spring, in soil that has been well dug over, in full sun with good drainage. The areas need to be one you can dedicate just for asparagus as it’s a long-term crop which comes back each season. Space between plants 50cm.
